Which Roofing Is Right For You?

Which Roofing Is Right For You?

When it comes time to either replace or install the roofing to your home or business, it can be overwhelming to know what roofing is the right fit for your home or building. To ensure that you are getting the optimum performance out of your roofing investment, the professionals at Built Strong Exteriors are breaking down the different types of roofing available.

Here are five different types of roofing you can pick from when replacing or installing a new roof on your residential home, multi-family home, or commercial property.

Asphalt Roofing – An asphalt shingle roof is by far the most common type of roof you see on homes. It’s a roof system made primarily out of asphalt shingles and other asphalt roofing components. There are three types of asphalt shingles to choose from 3-tab, dimensional, and luxury. Asphalt roofing is most commonly found on both residential and multi-family homes.

Cedar Roofing – A cedar shake roof is a premium roof system made of natural cedar wood materials. While it serves the same functions as an asphalt or metal roof, it’s a roof that is more aesthetically pleasing which can make it more expensive. Cedar roofing is commonly used on luxury residential homes.

Polymer Roofing – Most polymer roofing is made by melting down recycled plastics, thus keeping all that material out of landfills and oceans and putting it to good use! This is the same material that is commonly found on current popular long-lasting deck materials.

Sheet Metal Roofing – Metal roofing is a metal sheet that is roll formed into metal panels. These panels are then attached to the roof with screws. Corrugated metal is an exposed fastener panel, meaning that each fastener is visible on the panel’s surface. The traditional shape of corrugated sheet metal is round and wavy. Sheet metal is highly durable and long-lasting!

Flat Roofing – A flat roof is a roof that is almost level in contrast to the many types of sloped roofs. The slope of a roof is properly known as its pitch and flat roofs have up to approximately 10°. Flat roofing is most commonly found on large commercial business buildings.
